Coming out of a steep parking lot this afternoon and some ******* comes right up to my bumber. Still trying to get used the clutch (GT2) in this car. So anyways I try to inch it up and get out and burnt the clutch a little. The thing that pisses me off is that I never do that. Smelled a faint burnt clutch for about 3-5 miles. So how long does a clutch usually last for non track use and no abuse, but getting on it every now and then

It depends so very much on the driver skill and the type of driving that is done. A clutch can last as few as 10K miles or as much as 200K miles. Everytime the clutch is engaged, a little bit of material is worn off. Obviously, hiway driving hardly uses the clutch at all, and stop and go driving requires frequent engagements. The worst thing that can be done is long engagements, such as "slipping" the clutch when stopped on a hill. Most of us get pretty suspicious when a clutch needs to be replaced sooner than 50K miles or so.
BTW, track use isn't necessarily harder on a clutch than normal driving. Again, it depends on the skill of the driver.

Well normaly don't "slip it" when driving, just don't know what happened in this case, I thought he was right up on the bumper and didn't want it to go back an inch. I have had cars with tough clutches, such as the the Lotus, it was a heavy spring and engaged quick. I just don't know. The clutch felt great afterward and since I have gotten the car it's been perfect, actually feels like its new. I guess there is a first time for everything, just hasn't happened before

Over 3x 993 turbos, and several 911's, and boxsters, 35 - 40 000miles seems to be an uncanny average
Lots of city driving, a little track work, some heavy treatment, some light treatment, some highway....
