Default Help identifying plug (disconnected)in fender

Ok here is the deal:
last year running at Mosport my car would heat up just above 9 oclock position after about half hour. if I parked car and let it idle it would stay hot, if I drove it easy it would cool. so sounds like the cooling fan for external oil cooler.
did the diagnostic jumping the correct leads to test the high and low speed fan, resulting in neither working. looked at cooler and saw a plug loose through the front grill. opened up inner fender on right side and pulled the connector to the side so I could see it better. I have no idea where this connector plugs in.
the wires are 1.brown and 2. gray/red
the cooler is marked Langerer Reich 964 207 22002
the server is slow right now and I can't upload the photos so I will try again in a few minutes.
anyway the car has techart brake ducts so I am thinking somone forgot to plug connector back in to oil cooler when installing brake ducts., yes it has the tubing.
so I am going to Mosport tomorrow and the wheel and inner fender are off for a few hours. so if you know what this plug is or where it goes you would be helping me out in a big way. also anyone know if this is the original turbos cooler?
thanx in advance

here are couple photos the first photo is looking into front of front right fender and using a tool to hold wire and connector for photo.
what is this plug? and where does it go
I also tested my lights, fogs and turn signal tomake sure the plug wasn't from those.

Looks like something for the side light assembly?

looks like the wiring for the front marker or position lights. I can't recall which is which, they look slightly different.
If you have ducts with no lights at all (just nekkid ducts) there would be 2 sets of wires hagning around each side. Sounds like TechArt ducts have fog lights, so there is one set of extra plugs.

Going off of memory here... I can check mine to be sure but I know I have 2 sets on each side as I have ducts with no fogs or position lights.

yes I have the techart ducts w/ fog lights and they work as well as the corner lights. so are you saying it should have an extra plug hanging? I was hoping this was the reason the fan doesn't work.

yes, exactly, another set of plugs will be there... hanging. Sorry. Check the other side and you should see a matching plug.
If you did the "hot wire" test of the fan, then it sounds like the relay(s) are toast?
Another option would be to jumper the high speed fan while you are track...

Do the small parking lights work on your Techart setup?

Yes, all the lights (fogs, parking lights, and turn signals)function. But it appears the techart setup has an extra plug.

I believe there is another issue. I thought that doing the hot wire test (jumpering the terminals 3 and 7 for low speed and 3 and 5 for fast speed) bypasses the relay. the fan never came on, and to my knowledge has never come on in the last 2 years. Unfortunately, my test light is broken as I want to test if there is power even coming out of terminal 3.

oh, thought you said the fan came on when jumpered.
The resistor is normally the culprit then. Unplugging fan should cause it to run on high speed.

thanx everybody. I had a great day at Mosport. Once the car got hot I would just drive around at low revs and it colled off. I will try to unplug the resistors and continue on. btw the track day was a rennlist day today!

The resistor is the problem. It is on top of the oil cooler.. They seem to just rot out. I replaced mine and the fan works just fine.

Yes the problem is the resistor. Unplugged the plug under headlight and fan comes on after 1 minute engine running. so purchased the resistor from local stealer $62.32 (after Pca discount). will install tomorrow.

thank you everyone for your help
and TTsurgeon was correct to identify the plug as an extra from the techart brake ducts and fog lights.
