Default Idle surge and stall

I am getting an intermittent surge when I stop and the car is in neutral. I thought it was only happening when the car was cold but it is happening occasionally when the car is at op temp. It usually only surges twice and then moves to normal idle of 750revs. Occasionally, when it surges, the revs drop so low that it stalls. It always restarts easily.

Any ideas?

Thanks for your help gang.

can also be a loose relay...on my old 993S I used to get this kinda thing when I'd put it in neutral right before stopping- and occasionally the revs would drop so fast that the car stalled. DME relays are inherent weak links in multiple facets of the 993/993TT.

I just spent 30 minutes doing this to my car. It was even easier on the turbo car because the engine sits a bit further back. Just remove the intercooler shroud and the IAC is right there. I love this site!

thanks guys. I'll clean the IAC first. If that doesn't work, I'll change the DME.

Fixed. Removed distributor and there was a loose connection at the wiring harness.

I bought her in Dec, put her on the road in early April, went through oil leak at left turbo, smoke (Mahles), CEL and surging (connection as above) and she is now running like brand new. (I'm pounding on, not touching, my wood desk here). I had her detailed yesterday and will post pics next week. Happy days are finally here.
