Absolutely good move. I alternate my 993TT with my 996TSCab as my DD, rain or shine. And so far only one e-mail from a neighbor who says my 993TT Protomotive exhaust is "too loud" at 5:00am en route to the office (I'm a physician), even though I keep the revs in the early am below 3K. He says the plates rattle in the cupboards of their house even when I idle in the driveway!

You tell your neighbor 5:00AM is too early to be up and he should get back to bed, unless he's a physician like you.

Me too on the colour and I would gladly sacrifice your arm and leg for it. I've only seen one other like it and it was a crummy car.

The 993TT is an excellent daily. Get some PSS10s adjust the fronts to 3 and the rears to 4
(or find out what how soft you would like to go) and you'll have a great ride. Then when you
get to the track go 1 front and 2 rear and you have magically turned your TT in to a handling
expert. Probably should get some GT3 sway bars to go with the PSS10s. Unless the previous
owner has upgraded the suspension you will probably need to take care of that as part of the
purchase anyway.
Eugene you are one heck of a guy letting your wife drive your 997 as a DD.
I bought my wife an 07 BMW Z4M as her DD and I drive my X5 4.8is.

I'm actually starting to think I should use my RUF Turbo R as a daily driver. My regular 993 has 154k miles on it and it seems to run better than when it came out to play only on the weekends. Maybe the same will be true with the RUF.

Hey Niche, what engine do you have in that turbo R ? those are some pretty large power/torque numbers in your sig, I am guessing they are NOT from the Ruf engine dyno ?

In the 10 years we have been together she has never curbed a wheel or gotten a parking door ding - things that even I cannot claim myself!

The engine is RUF. The RUF Dyno numbers are 529+. My car is a little different in that it has a lot of upgrades that were reserved for the CTR2. The previous owner did some additional work on ECU, new transmission, light weight clutch, flywheel, ... etc..

That is interesting.....

Ruf did/does 2 packages the basic Turbo R K16 based which he rated at 490hp and usually ran around 500-510hp on his engine dyno, this is the one Bill S runs. The second package was using bigger K24 based turbos which ran at around the 520hp mark which I believe bb993tt on here now runs. The 580 CTR package uses an external wastegate turbo, K26 based I think ?

Do you know which turbo yours has ?

Ruf packages typically have relatively low mid range torque (~515lb/ft/700NM) as they don't run twin plug and don't have the EVO type sealing rings to keep the boost from causing leaks in the head/liner seal.
To get the 600lb/ft (816NM) you are quoting requires over 1.3 bar boost in the mid range (on a stock CR 993tt) which definately requires sealing and twin plug - were these part of your upgrades ?

Thanks for sharing the info

No I didn't perform any of the upgrades. In fact, I haven't even dynoed it. The previous owner did. All I have is the Dyno paperwork.

Here is a link to the car when it was sold to the P.O. by the original owner. RUF TURBO R

It runs K24 turbos... One thing I do know for sure is that the car is insanely fast. I mean like ducati motorcycle fast. I've never been in a car this fast... then again I'm coming from a regular 993.

Thanks for the link, very nice car, great set up

I think the 529.XXhp is what you have, unless someone has changed the turbos from what Ruf put on there is no way any ECU work is going to extract any more real hp - Ruf tends to be pretty good at optimising and harnessing the available horses

It would be great if you ever got the chance to strap a GPS performance tester on and ran some data, the 60-130mph time can illustrate well how fast your car accelerates relative to others......

You know, I do have some computer system from Innovative in there. Still haven't figured out how to use it. I believe part of the work that was done was to upgrade the RUF k16 turbos to K24 turbos. I do have the dyno sheet, but tell you the truth to me 529 or 579 is fine with me.
