I have now a stock TT rear spoiler on the car,
but I have also "Turbo S" rear spoiler on the shelf and the car will go to the painter in few weeks.. so, I have been thinking to change that Turbo S spoiler..
Is that S model spoiler somehow better than stock?
Like, is it more aerodynamic (lower Cd)
or more downforce
or why it has been created - only appearance?
Thanks from comments!

Jussi:
Complete the 993 Turbo S look with the front lip spoiler.
Here's one on eBay:

Note the ad says "993 RS" and "993 S".
The lip spoiler pictured appears to be a "993 TT-S" instead.

I haven't seen any drag or downforce data, and looks can often be deceiving. But my intuition says that the "S" spoiler is more efficient... more downforce with less drag. The S spoiler is slightly smaller in width than the standard spoiler, and has a small "wing", for downforce, instead of just being a "spoiler". I've also heard that those small vents are very effective. Note... there is not a shred of data in the foregoing.

Not that I can add anything on the functional side.
I do think that the best looking wing I have seen is the one that Leon had on his RUF 993TT. Other than that, the stock wing is in my eyes really really nice, I am not a fan of the Turbo S wing.

I think its purely aesthetic. I think it was designed to distinguish the 993TTS from the standard TT.
The 424HP may require abit more air thus the side vents. but if it was really a performance difference then the wing would be somewhat adjustable.
Its funny though I always loved the standard wing. Then when I saw the S wing I said WOW!!!
Both are stunning.

Certainly with the 996tt and the 997tt Porsche made a fuss telling us how much work had gone into developing the aerokits in the wind tunnel and how they make the cars even more stable whilst maintaining the low drag coeficient (BTW OG, neither are adjustable AFAIK)
Porsche were very much on stream with their aerodynamic testing when the 993tt was developed, I remember at the time there was plenty of data discussed in the various magazine articles so it would follow IMO that the 993tt aerokit was in fact fully functional and was designed to go with the 450PS 993ttS which could break the 300kph barrier.
In his book Marc Bongers states that the Cd and CdA are the same for the 993tt with and without aerokit. I asked him about the Cd and CdA numbers he quoted in his book for the Turbo S and he said that Porsche had designed the S kit to give additional downforce with the same drag - but no numbers anywhere.
I obviously believe the above since I paid the extra and went with a factory S wing from Gert - I am just a little nervous of fitting an aftermarket item which may or may not exactly replicate the wind tunnel tested contours of the factory item ?
I used to dislike the look but changed my mind over the years and trust me if you have experienced the stock 993tt "wander" at 180mph you would get over the look
From my testing I am fairly convinced that the S wing contributes to the better (190mph) high speed stability which I now have.

Thanks from this professional comments, Toby!
So, Cd value is same for Turbo S and stock Turbo spoiler but S model has better downforce value. That's very clear reason to change it.
I have also that Marc Bongers' book but haven't found so much informations of it![Embarrassment](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/redface.gif)
I have to read it again and again..
to me ![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
hmmm, maybe I'll check if those side air holes can be enlarged a little - have to tune everything

My pleasure, your appreciation is appreciated ![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
There is nothing in the book about it other than the fact that he quotes the Cd and Cd A as the SAME as stock - I emailed him and that is what he told me (as well as saying the Ruf CTR front spoiler does not give any downforce) although I feel he is probably guessing and doesn't have any concrete information from Porsche engineers.
