In the centre console there are two red LED's...One of them is linked to the PA1000 and blinks appropriately...the other does nothing.....Do other 993 owners have two? If so, what's the second one for?

I dont have any LED's that are in the console, do you have a picture of your console?

If yours is LHD, it may not have the LED as it is specific to the UK PA1000 alarm.....Porsche Driveblock just uses the door LED's I think and that was fitted as standard to the 993.

that is correct but I was just wondering how it looked as I have had some experience with the 993 and have seen the pa1000 system fitted and only 1 led, I was thinking it could of been another alarm, replacement led? but depends on how it looks in the console

Yes all switches present and working....rogue LED is fitted to the left of the PA1000 LED... both LED's can just about be seen in the pic, to the side of the gear stick.

yep see what you mean, there was a set of the switches on ebay recently (dont know if they are still on there) that would help you clean it up, aslong as the led is not connected to anything, can you see if there are any rogue wires coming out from behind the console, that you can see? Looks like the radio is non standard, is there anything else electrical thats not standard that you know of?

another idea, do all the other led's in the console work and warning lights on the dash, thinking that somebody may of wired up the led to replace a non functioning other item
