Default 993 TT: Daily driver or a bit fussy?

I am coming over from the 964 forum, and at the moment I am sniffing around for 993TT.

I have what might be dumb question for you guys: Is the 993TT cut-out to be a daily driver for a shortish commute, or is it a bit fussy? Of course I would be prepared to give it legs every now and then.

(I currently drive a polar silver 964 coupe--primary bypass, catbypass.)

PS If anyone knows of great deal on a TT, let me know.

Thanks.

IMHO there is no better Porsche daily driver (I've owned most available varieties and this is the one that always survives the "keep or sell" decision)

I don't drive mine every day, but I think it would be great. The risk of getting speeding tickets is what keeps it in the garage. Do a search on this site and you will find some sweet deals on TT's. I think one just sold for $50k with 69,000 miles. Looked like a nice car.

I drove Frank daily for a year. What a great end to the work day carving up the Portrero road pass!
No issues other than gravel rash and 1 ticket. They do like to have an Italian tuneup as often as possible.

I've driven mine daily for 13 years, never fussy, never stranded.

The only things that keep me from driving my 993TT everyday are the following:
1. I have a 996TT tuned to 700HP that I also love,
2. Winter weather and road salt, and
3. The car as we speak is finishing its Proto 3.8L/twin plug/650+HP conversion at Protosport in New Jersey.

I'd say budget about $5k to get any decent 993TT perfect. It'll take a little while and some frustration, and the car will be down for a few days in the first couple months of ownership, but after you have it sorted the car is a dream. My car does fine on Bilstein HD/M030 suspension in NYC. You'll be fine!

a great daily driver just be sure to warm up and cool down turbos when using or could be an added expense. the newer models 996 and 997 have more creature comforts.
a good deal is andy's listed in this forum. I have seen the car and seems very well documented and many tasteful mods, and a great price...not to mention it is the fastest colour!

It is a great DD. I prefer to drive it over my 997TT on a daily basis. Very compliant, comfortable, and manueverable

Really?

I thought the 997's were more ideal from a comfort stand point as a DD.

My 997TT wears Bilstein PSS10 Damptronics with 19" wheels, my 993TT wears HD's/M030 springs with 18" wheels. The 993TT soaks up more of the bumps and offers a more compliant ride, albeit with less precision. In general I feel less nervous driving the 993tt around as it is more low-key and has a smaller footprint in parking spaces.

the biggest reason for my not driving it daily:

I like the "Walter Mitty" factor and avoid the coworker jealousy factor.

I drive my dirty BMW to work (displaced out of garage by TT).
