THANK YOU to all for advice and insight into this process, particularly Scott and Kevin, for taking time to educate and help a complete stranger! All the info (so far) is coming back OK, with the leakdown scheduled for either today or tomorrow. Scott, thanks for the first-hand view of the car. Will let you know how it all shakes out, and even though I found this board late, I'm thrilled that I found it in time. Thanks, Al

Let us know how it pans out. Hopefully Scott could tell from an inspection of the car whether or not it had really been in a major fender bender or just some minor infraction. I have seen some really funny "minor" infractions in my time, most of them usually involve a female backing a car out of somewhere (sorry ladies). Regardless, alot can happen to car that is minor, just make sure you're confident that it IS minor. There are alot of oil lines, oil coolers, condensors, etc... in the front of this car and they all need to function properly.

Again, thanks for the input. The "accident" part seems to have been explained to my satisfaction. Leakdown performed today. Found this on a PCA website, from a few years ago.
"The experienced independent Porsche shop I go to indicates that leakdown
test results in the range of 2-6% are about as good as it gets even on
new engines, a range of 7-12% does not cause unusual concern, if it is in
the 15-20% range, there may be something to worry about."
These numbers are significantly higher than Kevin recommends, and the numbers I got back are all 10 or less. Does anyone else have info on what is deemed OK, and what is not? Help!
