You come a long way in modified Porsche cars! Very interesting story
I agree with you the Almeras brothers have not done much after the aircooled era, they do still compete in Cup racing in the French championship and have participations in Le Mans and other European challenges with moderate success. The reason we do not hear much about them anymore is because , like most other old timer European Porsche tuners, they compete with Saleens and similar cars nowadays.
In the street tuning area, as you rightly said, they are not and have never been a good shop, they are too focused on racing (unlike RUF) and still maintain many of the old aircooled 935s, 962, 993 EVOs etc.. for club racing customers and fun races and have excellent knowledge of those engines.
They have a 993GT2 EVO for sale right now made to '98 spec

Also a 962 engine for sale at 60k euros

At first I thought the backwards "RS Tuning" was purposeful, to intimidate when viewed in a rear-view mirror, like ambulances do. Then I saw that all the writing was backwards.

Good question TB
The picture you posted belongs to one of the races of the Divinol Cup, which is probably "THE" touring car race the most competitive or at least exciting, in Europe, it goes across 6 tracks in Europe including Nurburgring and Hockenheim, all sorts of modified cars participate including DTM cars, DTM drivers and F1 drivers occasionally, and that is where you will find most of the European GT2s running, in fact there are only four GT2 original factory race cars usually that race there.
There are not that many, they just change sponsors and colours all the time The #92 car in the picture belongs to someone I know, called Chawki Chikhani who I spoke to you about I believe, and lives in Belgium and is a longtime RS Tuning customer.
One of the white GT2s belongs to Sportswagen (SWS) and a third one to ex-Cargraphic DTM team (now for sale).
The 993GT2s are always in the top 1-3rd. overall in these races and usually post the fastest lap times.
Here is an example of one of this year's race results:
In Italy, a 993GT2 racer by the name of Gianni (great guy!) is giving the Weissach backed team ( called Orlando) a LOT of trouble in the Italian championship as they cannot beat him, and they have engaged in official complaints etc without success.
Back to Almeras... Is the one below your ex-car by any chance?
Can someone please shut me up!
