Hey Tug,

Don't know where you are from, but that car sure LOOKs good. Did you inquire about service history, options ect? appears to be unmolested, might be worth a closer look.

The car is about 2 hours away from where I live. It is now a 4 owner car, and he claims to have all of the paperwork on service etc. The only mod is that it has been lowered to Euro specs with H and R shocks, and claims that this cost 6 grand. Is this a negative?

Also, he mentioned that there has been an issue with oil gathering in the turbos on 993s, but that there is a fix for this and this car has not be affected. Actually, I have not heard ofhtis issue before (I am just starting to look).

Other than that, it looks clean. MAybe, I will go take a look.

H&R springs and shocks are fine, and the whole package installed with alignment and corner balance should be more like $3k. The car looks nice, but hasn't met the reserve. What do they want for the car?

$73k is a fair (not great) price for a perfectly maintained 22k mile 1996 TT. If you plan on driving the car quite a bit, you will suffer serious depreciation as you add miles. If this will be a low-mile, fun toy, this may be the right car... if it checks out OK. Another example is Scott Mellor's 1996 TT with near 50k miles. It is asking high $60's for that car, but it has $30k in mods. If you plan on driving the car a lot, you may want to get a higher mileage, lower-priced car.

I will probably put 2000-3000 miles per year on the car, so I am not sure where that puts me, but by no means would it be a daily driver. I would prefer to get one with 20K miles as it would take me a long time to get +50K in miles, and yes I Am familiar with the depreciation in P Cars. In addition, I do not want to do any mods, or buy one that has had mods. That is why I was curious about the lowering of the car. Thanks for the help.

I am outside of South Bend, Indiana.

The turbo oil pooling has to do with somewhat ineffective factory oil lines. The lines don't do a good job of preventing oil from falling back down the lines to pool in the turbo while the car is not running. There are several aftermarket lines that do a good job.

If you want to put stock porsche springs or the not very good factory shocks back on- it's a very straightforward swap (parts, installation, alignment) and a lot of people on the board have actually done the installation themselves. When you get the car inspected, just make sure that they look at all the items that aren't supposed to bend- lowered cars that are poorly aligned can break the little old parts here and there.

The oil lines are a very common issue and the few low mileage cars I'd looked at all went through it.
