Great post......

Bill
I recently reconnected the 4WD and am very surprised how much difference it made for this type of test. The combination of additional grip and (I guess) slight reduction in torque (extra driveline losses) means the power really gets to the tarmac, in 2WD the rear wheels just lit up.....

Double checked that - you are right -it was 47m, don't know where 29 came from

Yes, that's very important. Otherwise the time is meaningless. No dump clutch starts! Just start from a slow roll in 1st (3 or 4 mph) with the clutch fully engaged.

OK I'll be happy to do some runs in the Andial. I was just waiting for Jimmy the Felon to carry the banner for the Andial crowd, since he is already accustomed to being in jail.....

I have a stopwatch and the digital speedo and wrong size wheels: will that work? What do we need 5-60? 60-130? 30-160?

All the above but you need some sort of datalogger (DriftBox, AX22, etc) as the factory speedo and a stopwatch aren't accurate enough.

"Thanks" Toby but..
..my car is working very well and have no problem.
Here in Finland, Porsche driving season is already over
Weather is cold, near to zero and we have had already first snow rain. I also don't have front doors because of Techart's Kevlar doors couldn't fit properly and they picked up them back two weeks ago for rebuildning.
That's way I decided to put my Porsche to winter sleep and wait for its projects, like 911 special windscreen, lightweight brakes and wheels etc.
I now use my winter car already, Volvo S60 R AWD, tuned for 360hp and nice 520Nm torque.
off topic: It is even more powerful than my Porsche from 0 to 3500 RPM because it has +500Nm already from 2000 RPM

'twas a joke, just wanted to get you out so you could claim your world's fastest 5-60 title

Can't wait for the windscreen conversion and "new improved" for '08

One run only no practice boot at 5.0 mph and a run of 4.5 sec. measured on XA-22

Was thinking of trying it again from 2.0 mph and see if that makes a difference

Car tested; RS Tuning 993TT

Scott,
My probation was to stay away from similar minded hoodlums and their organizations (rennlist). However, since recitativism is about 100% in my case, I'll be hooking up the drift box to the CLK63 Black at an undiclosed time and location.
Blackie is enjoying the "nice" emission legal ecu for a while and I'm too lazy to pull the seat and change it. I really can't get into too much trouble on the 5-60.

Unless you're in a school zone, of course.

I ran the CLK63 Black tonight with the racelogic performance box and got a 4.1 seconds. Stock is 4.3 reputedly.
This car has so much torque its impossible to avoid wheel spin. Traction control light was flashing till 50 mph. My conclusion is this is pretty much a worthless test.

My Pirelli are about shot with four track days so with some practice I think the AMG will be under 4 seconds. You 993tt better watch out.

Jimmy, since I'll be in town more this offseason I'd love to meet up some time and take a look at your car...maybe we'll be out at the track together a few times.
