Angry Stone chips!!

So I'm driving on the highway where it splits and some idiot in a Prius decides that he is on the wrong part of the split and proceeds to cut me off and in the process throws up stones everywhere as the section he does his brilliant manuever is not supposed to be driven on given the white lines painted there.

I should've got his plate number but I'm not sure what recourse I would have.

I pulled over a few minutes later in a parking lot and saw 3 new stone chips on my side which would make sense as he came from the left.

I just don't know about owning a nice car.........

I realize that if we drive it, we're bound to get stone chips here and there, but when there are so many idiots out there driving around, it makes you wonder if it's worth washing, waxing, etc. when all that's going to happen is it's going to get some ding or stone chip.

Sorry about the rant, just had to get it off my chest. I'm so pissed right now!

How do you guys deal with it? I realize there's more important things in life and that it's just metal, but right now, I'm fumming.

Cesar,

Oh... I so feel your pain. There is little recourse... try doing your best with a bit of touch-up paint, and try not to let it make you too nuts. Sorry. Dang.

I try to avoid the highway because there is always stones flying, rubber alligators, idiots, etc. The secret is to get up really early before all the losers crawl out from their caves and get a good drive in.

I wish it was only the front bumper/hood.

This time around the stones that this idiot threw up all over the place hit the lower left side of the bumper and rear left arch above the protective shield.

The worst part about it is that the jerk eventually got on the major highway he was initially on. It's not like he darted over because he had to take one of the local exits!

I think I need to start taking my leisure drives early in the morning as suggested bu Cactus.

I tried Dr Colorchip (www.drcolorchip.com, they take paypal, no affiliation...) on my Audi a few months ago and was happy enough with the results I just started using it on my tt yesterday. A respray would be nice but this will do for now and looks much better than normal touch up paint ever will. It's also about the same price as what the dealer charges for the touch up paint if I remember correctly.

LT, would you mind giving me that installer's info? One of the cars I'm looking at will need the stoneguards in the rear replaced, and I wouldn't mind doing a clear bra in the front while it's there.

Ask for nelson. He did my gto, my 993TT, my brothers 996TT, R32, and my dad's 997S. Great guy and he'll come to you if you have a good work area.

Nelson does great work. He has done both pairs of my friends cars and they came out great. Haven't had him do mine as I need a respray.
