I still have the bbs 18" wheels on the car from going to the track a couple weeks back. I am planning on putting the Hre's back on any day now (they are 19"). I can't remember the offsets on either wheel right now but I have never experienced any rubbing and the rear 19s are sport contacts 295s

Do you think I'll need to go to -2 camber to fit 255/305 on 9" and 11" rims and RS +5mm height? I want to have my car setup for street/track and want to go as wide as possible for track without compromising ride quality too much on the street.
Larry: I'm currently running 19x8 with ET36 and 235s in the front with no rubbing and no rolled fenders. Though I'm at euro sport height, my camber is probably at -1 leading me to think that you can fit the 235s so long as you're willing to play around with camber.

At RS height I would not think you'd need that much neg camber to fit those tires. I run 9.5 & 11.5 with the 265/315 setup for the track. Not only do I like the look, but with that much rubber up front it definitely helps reduce push/understeer. At full lock the fronts rubbed the plastic in the front part wells - but there's nothing behind it, so it has no effect and its rare you get to full lock on the track (sometimes in the pit/paddock when going v slow)

"Since you're not using the 19's with black centers, why dont you just dump them off to me They are probably just taking up space in your garage"
I would love to except that they are back on the car...doh!

Dan.. I think those black HRE's would look better on a Polar Silver car...

"The 225/285 combination coupled with a very low suspension (ie. coilover) already exhibits a fair amount of tram-lining.. Why would you want to step up the tire sizes and make it worse? If it was a RWD car I would say bump the tires +1 size, but on a 993TT which is AWD, 225/285 works just fine. There is no added benefit to having a 295 rear on this car since traction is not an issue to being with." Quote by Vrs
I think Vrs makes a good point, though it flies in the face of an almost universal desire of performance oriented types to put wider tires on their cars. I fight this desire too, wondering if I can squeeze more rubber on my lowered 993tt which now has stock 225s on front and 285s on rear, and peformance mods generating around 500HP. And so I ask myself: what advantage would I gain from slightly larger 235s front, 295s rear? NONE, I'd expect. And second, with slippage on a 285 (already rather wide) being transferred to the fronts through AWD, I reckon even a 305 on the rear wouldn't make much difference to driving performance. In sum, I'm thinking that going bigger is just throwing money down the drain. Pls. correct me if I'm wrong.
