$5K a year is accurate. I have spent about $15K on repairs and general maintanence during the three years of my 993TT, including new turbos.

I dont know where you live but my car is stored 5 months per year. I'm going to put +-5K miles on it this summer to give you a ball park...

This year was a big one for me. New wheels (not required so I will exclude it of the analysis), tires (1200 $), 30K miles tune up (1500 $), new battery (150 $) and probably some brake pads soon (DE results...).

If you dont have a major problem, this is quite OK to me for the value you get in return... If you factor in the depreciation vs other cars, this is even greater.

Plan for the worst, hope for the best!!

I bought the car in Nov 2005. This Jan, I spent $3,700.00, new shocks, oil change and a few minor things. I put 3,000 miles on the car and if you don't count the shocks, it would probably have been about 500 to 800 dollars.

I guess if you drive it daily, then yeah, your cost will go up for maintenance. I will need tires at some point and new pads up front so that will add up. However, at 3,000 miles per year, those tires should last at minium 5 years.

Definitely have some funds available for unexpected issues.

I'm in Kentucky, so the car would be used most often during the warmer months, with an occasional outing during the winter. I'd probably average around 3000 miles per year too. I've actually never driven a 993 before, hopefully next week I'll have enough free time to take one for a spin, I've got my eye on a Willhoit car right now that's pretty close to what I'm looking for.
