high mileage 993tt thinking of buying
Hi, im thinking of buying a 993tt 96 year car but with high mileage at 103k miles.
The car has had a full history however I would like to know what issues can I expect from a car of this vintage, ie turbo condition and common problems.
the clutch has not been replaced but seems fine. The drive and handling is awesome and the brakes / discs have been changed recently.
Will get a ppi check done before purchase but are these cars bullet proof as the forums suggest. thx

bought with 4K miles...daily driver
only real issues...slave cylinder, hydraulic lifter, fuel pump

Do a proper PPI - it really pays off.
Regarding the car, compared to other sports cars of the mid-late 90's this one is way more reliant. Especially considered its power and technological standards.

Unless it's a killer deal, I'd look for one with less miles. With those kind of miles, it will need repairs($$$) in the near future(regardless of spotless records and a decent ppi) and it will depreciate like a bolder. Keep looking.

When you do the math, you will see that it is actually a low-mileage example... approx 10k/year. Porsches are no less robust than most other makes, and considerably better than many. If this car is priced right and passes a very comprehensive PPI, and you have a bit of reserve for odds and ends, this may be OK. Some common problem areas:
turbo units start passing oil (rebuilds are ~ $1500/pr for stock ones)
steering rack leaks (~$1k, but a possible DIY)
clutch (~$2500)
clutch accumulator (very hard clutch pedal until the car is started... $200)
clutch slave cylinder (giant pain in the butt... I dunno about the cost)
Be sure that EVERY warning light comes on with the key on, and then extinguishes when the engine starts. Be sure the on-board computer shows 0.8 BAR of boost pressure when you nail it. Check the functioning of the very expensive H/AC control panel... though its exact operation remains a mystery to me. Good luck.

I would think between $45k and $50k depending upon condition of the body, paint, and interior, minus any big ticket items discovered in the PPI. We don't know the color combo or where the car is located, which also affects the price. In fact... we know nothing about this car.

Sheesh... not even fully broken in yet. Ya gotta start driving that thing instead of polishing it. Rufus has 109k miles... just a tadpole.
