Default AWE test pipe reviews wanted

I know a few of you have these. I was wondering how you like them, if you're running them on the track or street, and any CELs or other things you'd like to share. I hear they're LOUD!

Thanks

Just tied the post after cat o2 sensors up in the engine bay. The car runs fine and sounds awsome under load. You will lose your heat unless you want to fab a small u-pipe from your stock headers to your heat ducting. I will be getting some race cats from Kevin at ultimate motorwerks so I can pass emissions and so Kevin doesn't kick my butt for not running them with his stage 2 upgrades.

I don't have emissions to deal with, but thought about the CATs. Kevin, do you think a set of CATs could be welded into these things? Doesn't really look possible to me.

They come straight off the turbo. Cats are not possible, it would defeat the purpose.

FWIW - if you are after sound these are great. If you are after performance you may want to reconsider. I am sure if you tune your car (ECU) to the pipes there may be something to be gained. If you are just bolting them to your car you will gain db's only. Just my .02. BTDT

I have mixed feelings about the design. The tips supposedly taper for decreased lag but this tapering also increases backpressure. I'd assume this would reduce ultimate horsepower produced.

From their website:
"These pipes are built to Porsche Motorsport spec, with 3" tubing and a 2" exducer diameter to provide quick spoolup yet preventing overboosting. Plus, they cost significantly less than the $2500 Motorsport units! Built of T304 Stainless Steel with thick CNC cut flanges, they are made for serious track use."

Fact or fiction?

It's fact.

I'm not going to try and sugarcoat it. Bottom line is that we copied Porsche Motorsports design.

We knew we could offer a comparable product at a far more reasonable price.

I have two sets on the shelf if anyone needs them.

Email me direct if you have any further questions.
