Right Price for 96 993TT

I have asked the broker to get me all additional records so I can try to piece together the service history.
The car was purchased at Carlsen and the first two services were done there. The first year was basically and oil change. The second year, the stamp says a 15K mile type service, although the car had around 4k miles on it.
There are no further stamps in the book, but the broker waved a receipt at me and told me about a service last May, so that the car is due for another service now.
I use Bob Grigsby as my mechanic. I believe he knows TT's as well as N/A cars. Does anyone have experience with Bob and TT's?

There are a lot of empirical things you can check out once you get your hands on the car.
The best thing to do is be knoweledgeable so you won't get taken.
A PPI is an excellent idea. I have some issues with Carlsen as a dealership though. Probably not a deal breaker, but I would scrutinize it just a little bit more.

Hal - obviously we have to do PPIs, but there are so many things that can (and usually will be) missed. If this car is indeed due for a service and you can reach a reasonable price point, I suggest the deal include an annual service prior to sale (not an expensive service - although at this point the 30K service is probably in order due to the age). The shop doing the service (I strongly recommend CT automotive in Campbell) can then go through the car and do a PPI during the service. This is a great way to really get a feel for the car. Also, as already noted, Dan, Jeff and I could probably take a look at the car as well. The three of us combined probably have much more 993TT experience that any mechanic you can find (not that we can fix the car, but we can look for defects or possible issues). The 993TT is a rare car with only a few thousand total making it to the U.S. There are no local mechanics I know of that have spent substantial time with these cars (other than the mechanics who own or have owned one).

Speaking from experience I would let a Turbo owner look at and drive a potential car. I had no frame of reference when I bought mine and I did have some major problems ( all thankfully solved)
But what a car to drive.

Hal - if you are really serious about the car I am willing to check it out. Maybe Dan, Jeff and I can all show up in our 993TTs and tell the first salesman we see that we need another as a parts car.

Bill, I'm in...
Actually, Stanford European was the first dealer that I looked at for my TT.
The salesman at the time said something that I still remember. He said "Are you ready for how this car is going to change your lifestyle?"
I'm free on Sat afternoon or on sun afternoon. The parts car line is a good one. Probably will cut down on the BS right off the bat.

Just an update.
Bill, Dan and I were getting set to check out this 993 TT at Stanford European motors on Sat.
But 2 days before, it was sold. The car was polar silver/black, 8K miles, lightly optioned. Sold for $80K!
I guess that's a good sign for the resalability of TT's!
