Post '97 993tt on the way...... YES...

Just bought a 993tt today. Have not owned a Porsche for a few years. I can not believe how the prices have crashed. '97 black on black, 35K miles. No body damage, repaints, and in perfect mechanical condition. Carfax fine, and even service records in order. Paid $62K from a dealer. Now let the modifications begin...

Step 1, January / Fabspeed mufflers, throttle body mods, unichip with boost control (maybe intercooler), light flywheel with single clutch

Step 2, February / Turbo S front and rear spoiler (with additional oil cooler).

Step 3, March / Bilstein PSS9 suspension with Porsche RSR sway bars and end links, monoball upper strut mounts front and rear

This should work for starters and the beginning of track season.....

Glad to be back behind the wheel of a 911...

Congratulations! I know how you feel, I still can't believe that I have a 97 Polar Silver with 16,800 miles.

Wow, what a price!!! I live up the road in Hillsborough...I have a '97 Black/Cashmere that I am thinking of selling. Now that I see you paid 62K for your car, I will probably wait 'til spring and HOPE for prices to firm...

Where did you buy the car?

Viperbob,
You need to reverse the order of your modifications (unless you are doing them all at once). If your car has the stock suspension it is a good chance that it has worn out shocks.
Good luck with the new car.

Ahhh, I knew the question would come up..I just answered Pin on an email he sent me. Well, no strong need to sell. If a buyer presents himself, great! I will buy a high mile C4S (the car I sold to get the tt). I am piling the miles on the tt as I do with every Porsche I own, after all, these are meant to be driven. But I have finally fallen for the oldest trick in the book...I purchased a car that I consider 'too' nice. I know, yell at me now, this is lame! But piling miles on the tt is rather uncomfortable. I know the car is a better machine with use, but a high mile C4S should offer 'similar' (did I just write that???) benefits on the road. Now, on the track, I will miss the tt. Here in lies the problem. I am now hesitant bring the tt to her home (home is pronounced 'track). After reading the Nugget(PCA rag), I want to get involved with DEs.But moding the tt is not a hobby I want to start! A high miler will feel right to me. I can mod as needed without a big monetary hit. Replacing my tt one day will be tough for the money (full carbon, amazing sound system and a VERY clean bill of health by Alan at the Stable- he has worked on the car for the past 15K miles, including 30K service) If the tt does not sell, then, in Spring, I will buy a stable mate for the tt. If Bill can have 2 turbos, then I can certainly have a Turbo and an NA!

excuse the typos/grammer...I wanted to reply before my 1pm meeting! Now I am late...darn Rennlist!

Cheers
Anthony

Hi Anthony,

If you are thinking of tracking a C4S w/ high mileage and also if you are thinking of modifying the C4S with track events in mind, then one car that came to mind is DJ's:

http://www.p-caronline.com/directory/~dj/

I don't know if he has sold it or not but I bet the aftermarket parts that he has on the car had probably costed him > $15k.

His car is very nicely setup.

Best wishes in all your decisions Anthony

Viper Bob: Congratulations. It's a great car. Hope to see you on the next drive we have. Boy have you got things planned! Somehow I think you've got goodies lined up for the next 6 months... You got a great price.

Anthony: HOW CAN YOU EVEN CONSIDER SELLING? Once you've had those 400 horses, you can't go back. Seriously, I think you may regret it if you pull the trigger. One of the finest Porsches ever built. The new ones just aren't the same.

Jeff, Bill, Anthony, Pin, Bob, Kim, we should plan another drive soon. The last two were lots of fun.

Eric

We all switched off and drove each other cars. It was a blast! I'd love to do something similar at the track.

The drives sound great. Let me know. Unfortunately, the car will not be here for a couple of weeks. Can't wait to get back on the track with a Porsche. I was a Zone 1 instructor and used to get in 20-30 days a year before moving out here a few years ago.

Corkscrew here I come...

Hi Eric,

I'm all up for the get together/drive with all of you guys

I just need to stay in the back of the pack during the drive as I will be driving a family sedan (530i)

Viperbob: congratulations on your new car I agree with Greg, I think you'll be happier if you can do the PSS-9, RS bars modification first. I used to own a 993 C4S and that particular modification on my car really made a big difference in terms of driving experience (both on the track and on the street).
