Post Interesting cold air induction on 993GT2

looks like this might only fit under a GT2 spoiler. I am trying to find out a bit more from the manufacturer, but it looks like a good feeder of cold air.

That is a induction system made by K&N Japan. It's very expensive. More than U$1000.

Luke
I think that induction pipe would snag my child seat
I have some more off the car pics of this GruppeM (or K&N) system. If anyone wants them drop me a mail.
My concern is that it looks like the intercooler surround has to be discarded so (if you believe that the surround forcing air thro' the cores theory works on a road car vis a vis the heat sink theory) is any cold air benefit outweighed by a drop in intercooler efficiency ?
I have posed this question to the manufacturers and will be impressed (but surprised
) if they have any data as opposed to "talk"

I got this reply from the distributors of this product in response to my query about the removal of the intercooler surround/shroud affecting the intercooler efficiency.

If you have further technical question that you would like to know,
please let us know. Unfortunately we do not have any Dyno diagram in UK to
show you at the moment. I could try to find out if our Japan data library
holds any.

This reply claims they have tested and disposing of the surround/shroud and inserting the ram air inlet gives more power - Having just spent a bit of time/expense in getting my TTP/Cargraphic/FVD intercooler fully surrounded/shrouded and sealed to promote flow through the cores - this makes me wonder "again" how these intercoolers really work (particularly on road cars)
Suffice to say, I have requested more data.
