Post i need help with oil in to turbo

Hi Everyone,

let me introduce myself first. My name is Sint, I have a 97 993TT. I bought it 2 years ago from my very best friends.

Now I have problem with my 993TT, it happened that an oil keep flowing in to turbos all the time until it is over flow out of turbos on to the ground. It will stop only when there is 5-6 liters left in the tank. does anyone have see this kind of situation before?
I wonder if the tank or filter have stopper somewhere?

Thank you in Advance,
Sint, <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

Welcome to the board, Sint22...

I had oil leaking from my turbo at one point. I thought that it was a defective turbo, but it turned out it wasn't. Don't get too concerned yet.

Did you have an oil change recently? Were both oil filters changed? Does your car smoke from the left tail pipe?? ( when looking at your car from the rear. Is there oil on the right side of the car?

If you want to see where I am getting at, do an archive search and you'll see what my problem was and how it was resolved.

Jeff

ps, DOH, lost my "993 posts" status... Oh well...

Sint22,

I had the same problem. Try replacing the small oil filter with the newest Porsche part (yours may be defective). I think they are up to version 3. There is a valve in that filter that will stop oil from flowing back into the engine and through the turbo lines. Also, make sure you tighten the filter properly. Too loose may cause the valve to fail.

That's where I was getting at also.

Turning it an extra 1/2 turn with the wrench after hand tightening did the trick for me.

Hi Jeff,
I have got the same problem as you have, exactly the same. smoke came from one side, left pipe (right turbo) i have overhaul turbos 1 times and replace once. and it did not help. I will try to check out the right filter for it.

your posts is really help full. but do you still have the archive of the "turbo smoking"? i would like to read that one.

I was really disappointed that 993TT is very sensitive. I will try to get the right part for it.
Thank you very much for your help

Here are two more posts on the subject:

And a bit more information from another 993 TT owner. Look for the posting by "Dan J"

<a href="http://www.babblers.org/recommendations/index.pl?vendor=43" target="_blank">Babbler's Recommendation of Carlsen Porsche</a>

Let me know if this helps. I'd like to get a bit more evidence that the oil filter tightness is really the problem.

Thanks..

Hi Jeff,
thank you for more posts.
I can not do anything right now, to my car.
I am now in the USA. i will be back home in Dec to get it fix. Or i will try to get someone
to fix it for me.

one more question for you, Jeff.
after you have got the oil filer
with part number of 993.107.203.03
and turning it an extra 1/2 turn.
does the problem all solved? or there is
something else need to be done as well?
Thank you

Nope, that was all it took. Pretty simple fix, eh?

Also, be sure to clean out your turbo intake hoses and intercooler, becuase there will have already been oil in there from before. Otherwise, it'll take a while for that excess oil to burn off.

Jeff

PS, if you think that Rennlist has been helpful, you should consider becoming a member. Like many people have said before, it's the best porsche investment that you can make.
