Question tire size question

Hello:
Did any of you guys fit wider tires on stock wheels? Also, I am getting a new set of wheels. F:8.5x18 R 10x18. But I checked few website (ie tirerack.com, techart.de). They are still running stock tire size 225's on the front. any thoughts on that??
thanks

If you are going for 8.5" wheels in front, consider upgrading to a 245/35-18 and keeping the 285/30-18 at the rear. The 245 will fit very well on the 8.5" wheel and will help reduce some of the understeer.

Thanks Viken....I am going to try out a set of S03. However, 245/35-18 is not avaliable right now. So I am stuck with the 225/40, 235/40 and 245/40. Do you think 245/40 will be too tall?? Or I should just get the 235/40??
TIA

By looking at the S-03PP specs, I found the following:

Front: 225/40-18 on an 8" wheel has a diameter of 25.6"

Rear: 285/30-18 on a 10" wheel has a diameter of 24.8"

The idea is to get a front tire that has as close a diameter to the above tires as possible. The two tires that may be candidates for this are:

235/40-18 on an 8.5" wheel has a diameter of 25.4"

245/40-18 on an 8.5" wheel has a diameter of 25.6"

Both of these tires work on an 8.5" wheel and appear to have acceptable diameters. However, I would probably choose the 235 to keep the front diameter closer to the rears.
