hard to identify smell?
Hi all
I drove down back home to the south coast from London today, very hot for the uk, I normally fill up with Optimax but as I was desperate used BP 97 for the journey home, ran the air con' most of the way back and spent a great deal of time crawling in traffic, did slip the clutch a couple of times.
When I got home after locking the car in the garage I went back into the garage and noticed a strong smell like next door was having a bonfire, it definitely smells electrical?/ acrid I opened up the engine and sniffed about and the smell seems to be coming from the right side of the inter cooler, possibly from the right air intake.
There is no smoke just the smell, I have driven the car very hard before and never smelt anything like this, the car is a 993TT with 46k on the clock, fully serviced with a new clutch 6k ago.
Has anyone experience of this, I am very grateful for any help.

I had a similar experience once with my TT (52,000 miles), but I couldn't narrow it down or track its source, and it never happened again. I'm thinking aliens...
