Anyone had experience powder coating factory wheels? I'm searching for something better than the easily chipped paint and don't like chrome.

Here's an old thread:

I'd second your thought to NOT get them chromed.

911 I am selling a set of Black powder coated ones and they worked great. Moved to 9's and 11's and don't run the old twists anymore. You can see a pic in the threads below.

I think I'd post this on the 993 board... more active, and they deal with the same issue. I really wanted some 3-piece modulars to replace the hollow spokes, but somehow, we're getting window coverings for the bedroom instead. "Women... can't live with 'em... pass the beer nuts" <Norm, on Cheers>

Bill, they are solids. I used them as track wheels hence the powdercoating. I found them to be very durable and would encourage You to go ahead and coat whatever set You do end up with. It worked well for me.

i've coated many different things and as long as you can find a good shop do it. I've had a few shops do really shaddy work, and had them redo it a few times till they got it right. Just be persistent.
One shop was just a bunch of idiots, i forgot the name it was a few years back, but they kept re powdering over the old powder coating instead of blasting it off....it was a horrible ordeal and finally they got it right after about 8 trips back in to yell at them.
