Question Confused by .5 to .6 Bar

I just got this car back from the Dealer where they replaced the boost pressure sensor 993 606 103 00 and the immobilizer batt PNA 611 105 00? Thanks to all the previous posts about my original problem of reading .0 to .2 Bar at idle. That problem is now gone.

Now I seem to be in limp mode .5 to .6 Bar only and I have also seen 3.0 flicker on as well. I have read some of the previous post on these subject separately but not interrelated. Any thoughts? Are these separate issue or could they be related?

I have no CEL and car seems to operate fine.

Check you clamps connecting the boost hoses to the intercooler. I was also getting only .5 to .6 bar of boost under full acceleration. I didn't know why.

During a recent removal of the intercooler (to replace a alternator belt), I found the clamp were tight but were only clamping down on the boost hose. The clamp was not installed where the where the boost hose overlapped the intercooler. I moved the clamps higher up so that I had a good seal between the hose and intercooler.

Now I under full acceleration I see a full .8 bar of boost, the boost gauge reading is more stable, and my car runs stronger.

Keith,

This was one of my other little issues I am contending with right now. Car has the exact same symptoms that are currently plagueing you. One difference, I did finally get a CEL. On my car, it seems that the CEL is in a 125 mile cycle. Even when it senses a problem, until it is around for this long, the CEL is off.

Anyway, with some of my mods, I had to install a small electonic piece on the MAF sensor. This cuts down the voltage slightly to the ECU. Long story why I need this, but what is happening is that instead of cutting down the signal from like 1.3V at idle to 1.0V, I am getting less than .1V. This low MAF signal then causes the ECU to go into Limp Mode. My fix is easy (getting a new $5 part), your issue may be more involved. If this is indeed your problem, then you could have a bad MAF sensor.

I was doing some searching yesterday here in the archives, and here is one excerpt with similar symptoms:

"I have experienced the same problem. I took my car to the dealer, and turns out that my mass flow air sensor wasn't working properly".

I would say that you need to go back to the dealer, or a GOOD mechanic to see what they can do.

Jon,

I checked the hoses you were talking about. Dropped the nut off the back of the intercooler bracket <img border="0" alt="[grrrrrrr]" title="" src="graemlins/cussing.gif" /> . I found the right side hose was cracked under the lower edge of the hose clamp. Moved things around hoping this was the problem. Went for a test drive . I still have the same issues. Thanks for the input and maybe I just couldn't get it sealed well enough because of the cracks.

Yea Bob,

I think it is time for another stay at the Dealer. The car still has the used car warranty so might as well make the most of it. I don't want to start making modifications until I have a solid base line car to begin with.

I finally got back to the dealer for this boost problem. They found no leaks and the boost checked ok too. The problem was apparently just an indication problem so they are installing another pressure sensor. Hopefully that is it and I am able to start the upgrades .
