TIRE REPLACEMENT
Considering changing tires on my 97TT which has bridgestone SO2 which are Porsche factory recomended. Tirerack suggests switching to a Michelin pilotsport rib or bridgestone pole 050- all for better ride which I would like. Any suggestions /ideas - re what others are using

From all the reports I've read, the Michelin PS-2 is a superior tire in every respect to the Bridgestones. I happen to have Pirelli Rosso Assyemetricos and am surprised by how well they work. Still... the great majority prefer the PS-2. I don't think you can go wrong the that tire.

No offense, but I don't understand why people like to stick with the factory recommended tire. Tire technology is continually improving, and Porsche's recommendation for our cars is 10 years old (as is the Bridgestone S02). While the S02 is a good tire, most would agree the S03 is better, and other tires--like Michelin PS2--better still.
Consider Porsche's current OE-spec tires (e.g., 996TT/GT2/GT3): Michelin PS2 and Pirelli P-Zero Rosso.
FWIW, I have Michelin PS2s on my 993TT and on my BMW M3, and they're honestly the best street tire I've ever driven; they're significantly better than the SO3 and SO2 in my opinion.

I run 235/40 and 295/30 on 8.5x18 and 11x18 (Kinesis K-28). According to Michelin's specs these should work fine on stock 8x18 and 10.5x18 wheels. I'm sure somebody else here is running that setup and would be able to comment directly.

That's a good link. Overwhelmingly positive feedback, including 50 reviews from Porsche owners (filter on make), many of whom cite the improvement over their original equipment SO2s...

I'm sure 295's on the rear would be great. How would you imagine the front 235's would work in a track application. Any issues? This assumes I don't want to go to track specific tires at this moment.
