Post Viper GTS

Would anybody consider a 2000 Viper GTS as a great touring car.

(PS I do not but I would like your thoughts.

I like the Viper. Its a car that wears its ***** on the outside. Its a brute, in the 427 Cobra kind of way. Of them all, the GTS is closest to my style. They are down in the low $50s, high $40s now, which is probably a bargain that will remind us someday of the cars we "could have" bought back in 1967. I am constantly amazed that Chrysler had the gonads to actually build/sell this car. But...
I hate the way they sound, and hate that the engine is derived from their truck, and still has pushrods. While I like 450 HP, I don't care much for the brute force method used to get it (bigger, Bigger, BIGGER). They're not terribly comfortable for long distance cruising. No... not a great touring car. IMHO...

A touring car should be able to comfortably accomodate its driver and passanger for a three to four hour drive. Try that in a Viper GTS and you'll have your answer.

Been there, done that. Had a '97 GTS all redone for racing / DE events. As long as you like a lack of comfort, and a LOT of heat they were grat cars. They are an incredible machine on the track, with more freaking torque than a couple of turbos, but then 8.0L will do that...
