Default Source for Ruf bumper?

Are there any manufacturers that offer a replica version 993 Ruf CTR front bumper? I don't exactly feel warm and fuzzy about spending what Ruf wants for an original. I've checked with the usual suspects...MaShaw, Better Bodies etc etc but haven't had any luck finding one. I'm surprised that with all of the aftermarket parts out there that nobody has replicated the CTR bumper.

Thanks for any help

Get Ruf parts, they are always high quality, you wont feel warm and fuzzy about some
of the other crap available. You get what you pay for holds true in the Porsche world
with a few minor exceptions.

While I am sure RUF conversions and manufactured cars are very high quality, the CTR2 front bumper is a very poor quality piece indeed.

I got mine direct from the factory after they assured me it was Porsche factory quality ... it isn't, being fibreglass for a start, and furthermore a nightmare to fit, untrimmed, badly finished, I could go on .. two body shops have given up on it ! I have had correspondence with RUF, but they have chosen to ignore my complaints...

It's a real shame, as the design is fabulous aesthetically .. cheers, Maurice

I've seen an Excellence article on the CTR (not CTR2) which had two RUF people demonstrating their floppy front bumper, but the bumper they provided me was thick, poor quality fibreglass with ripples that would look at home on a TVR (or worse) ... not that I'm bitter (much), but it was around $ 2.5 K before the body shops started ...

Just as well I love the look ...

cheers, Maurice

My Ruf CTR-2 bumpers were pretty nice. They look like fiberglass, but Ruf claims them to be Kevlar/Carbon-Fiber. I dunno... they look like fiberglass. The bumpers fit pretty well and were easily finished. YMMV

Default Not always the best

I guess this is my first post saying something negative about Ruf but here goes!
My Ruf vin Ruf car is in the shop having a CF hood removed. Installing the original sheet metal hood. After many mails regarding the fit problem I gave up. The CF was shipped from the factory to me and just did not fit well at all. Not even close.I paid a bunch of bucks for that hood.
Since Alois has been busy with new business it is impossible to talk with him as we once did. My last conversation with Alois ended with "you will hear from me in ten days"..that in regard to sending my car back to the factory for upgrades and cosmetic restoration. That was one year ago,I have not heard from him.
I understand he is a busy man. So be it.

Cheers

You can't copyright a shape but you can get a design patent for a front bumper. I quick search shows that RUF hasn't.

well, it was a fair GUESS, it seems MA-SHAW would have offered one by now, given the great look it has...

BTW- the bumper on my RUF looks, fits perfectly... but it was installed at the factory... I was thinking of the CF hood, but the info Ruf-Racer makes me second guess that choice...
