hi,
I need some help/advice regarding turbo boost/acceleration on my car.
when accelerating in second gear from low rpm the car sometimes accelerates as if I was driving a 'normal' 993 not a turbo. it seems like there aren't any turbocharger installed at all!! any ideas what the reason for this could be? on other occasions it really accelerates hard from low rpm. I have checked the boost gauge and it shows 0.8 when accelerating hard. yet I have experienced this several times already.
any help/advice is highly appreciated. thanks.
ps: allow me to introduce myself, I live in hamburg/germany and I drive a '97 turbo with 450 hp in arctic silver. I bought the car in nov. '01 and before I owned a '97 c4s in black which I bought in mar. '98

Your English is a lot better than my German, but I'm still having a bit of trouble understanding the symptoms. You are experiencing a lack of power, but the boost gauge is showing 0.8 Bar?
Perhaps you have a faulty knock sensor that is tricking the computer into thinking it has low octane fuel. This could retard the timing and perhaps even enrich the fuel mixture? Perhaps a computer reset is in order. How do you do that? Disconnect the battery for a few minutes? I'm not sure.

Hi Steve,
those are exactly the symptoms. But this only happens occasionally?!
Just to be sure I have made an appointment with my garage to have the car checked. In case they find something I will post it here.
Thanks for your advice.

If you disconnect the computer, you'll lose the fault code which caused it in the first place. The uncertainty would be unsettling, even IF everything worked fine afterwards.
I think you are doing the right move by taking it to the shop to have the fault codes read out.

I finally got my car back today. Apparently two valves that regulate the boost were clogged up and had to be replaced.
According to Porsche this happens quite often!
I have yet to testdrive my car and will tell you the result asap.
Thanks for your advice.

Hi Jeff,
So far I cannot give you any further information on the valves.
I will let you know once I have received the invoice.
Knowing Porsche I should receive it in no time!!

I received the invoice even faster than expected!
The valves are called Umluftventile, I guess it translates into Diverter valves?!
Here is the part# 993 110 337 50
Does anybody know if this is a common problem?
