Post Wheel weights for 993TT

With all the discussion about wheels (18" and 19") and their weights, I thought I'd give some information I've collected over the last 4 or 5 years with my own car. I've owned and used the following wheels on my own turbo and weighed each set of wheels/tires on the same bathroom scale. Thought it may be of interest. Car currently has RUF 19s with 235/35 and 285/30/19 Dunlop SP9000s. Rears require 35mm spacer.

Weights are for one wheel with tire mounted and balanced.

18s are with 225/285 S02s except hollow spokes have 225/285 P0 Pirelli. Offsets for 18s are 52mm front and 40mm rear except as noted. RUF offsets are 56mm front and 66mm rear (requires rear spacer).

18" FACTORY HOLLOW SPOKES
8" fronts 44 lbs
10" rears 53 lbs

18" FACTORY TECHNOLOGY (SOLID SPOKES)
8" fronts 51 lbs
10" rears 60 lbs

18" 94 TURBO 3-PIECE FACTORY SPEEDLINES
8" fronts 48 lbs
10" rears 54 lbs (these have a 61mm offset requiring a 20mm spacer) total weight 57 lbs.

19" RUF
8.5" fronts 53 lbs with 235/35/19 Dunlops
10" rears 59 lbs with 285/30/19 Dunlops
(rear 35mm spacers add 4 lbs)to 63 lbs

So, as you can see, the RUF 19s are heavier than the hollow spokes by 9 lbs each front, 5 lbs rear. RUF fronts are 1/2" wider, tire is 10mm wider than 18s. The RUF wheels actually weigh slightly more than the 18" technology (solid spoke) wheels(2 lbs front, 3 lbs rear).

With the RUF wheels, ride, handling, and acceleration/braking differences aren't noticable on the street. I am running 38/42 PSI tire pressure with the 19s. I obviously will be using the old hollow spokes for any track activity. IMO the RUF wheels are SPECTACULAR on my Arena Red turbo. I'll provide pictures as soon as I can afford a digital camera (after a euro front bumper and H&R or PSS9 coilovers).

Regards, Hal

Take 2; I goofed on some numbers.

The RUF 19s with tires are actually 9 lbs heavier front and 10 lbs rear than the 18" hollow spokes with tires. Still 2 lbs front 3 lbs rear more than 18" technology wheels (solid spoke) with tires.
