Default Fitted RUF wheels and Fabspeed Muffler Bypass

After many months finally got round to fitting the RUF 5 spokes. The driver was the PCGB event at Eynsham which was just down the road from me so that they could use it for display purposes! and then they didnt use it!!! - pictures attached.

Still reckon they look the best wheels for the 993 Turbo.

Also after 9 months of dithering picked up a set of Fabspeed Muffler bypasses of ebay for £120/$200 and had them fitted, wow are they loud, especially when the engines cold. I can confirm the resonance problem between 2400 and 2800 rpm, fortunately its below my cruising speed. So for those of you that want a bit more noise then RSR, Maxflo mufflers are the way to go. If you want lots more noise then muffler bypass is the way to go

Very nice. Those wheels compliment the car so well.

I agree on the wheels (obviously), but humbly disagree on the resonance. I've had my Fabspeed bypasses on two different cars, andneither passengers nor I hear any resonance at all. Perhaps we are deafened by the roar. With std cats, its actually not so loud (except when cold), and with the Ruf 100 cell cats, its quite... ahhh.... aggressive.

Very, Very nice... congrats on choosing one of the coolest rims for our 993TTs. I will also agree with Steve ... as I was one of many passenger that have had the good fortune to ride in Waldo and RUFUS.... RUFUS takes the trophy as best sounding 993TT I've ever heard.

Steve
I reckon your hearing is going, I have stock cats and its very loud and lovely just what I was looking for.

Maybe resonance is the wrong word for it, but the noise is only when cruising or when accelerating very slowly between 2400 and 2800 rpm and it could be described as droning or lack of definition/clarity to the engine noise, its definately not the lovely noise you get in the rest of range and its totally un noticable when accelerating.

I never had any resonance issues with Waldo while I owned it. I also went for a ride in RUFUS and I agree that it sounded great.

Gordon,

Would you mind speaking up a little and stop that mumbling? If you must know, hearing is the third thing to go. I've forgotten what the first two are.

Gordon's wheels appear to be 19s. Despite all the doom and gloom talk about 19" wheels, a number of us find them to work just fine, and look great... thank you very much.

Steve,

(Shouting for Steve too) In your avatar... the RUF rims spinning looks like they have lips.... very nice.

Gordon,

Are your rims brand new? What is the spacers size for the rear?

Gordon, very nice car, I saw it at the show and thought at the time it should have been on display!!! Cant comment on Fabspeed as such but I mandrel bent my own bypass pipes (wanted to keep my tips!) and I too get that sort of lack of clarity as you describe...soon goes tho! Great choice of wheels too, was considering them myself but as we are discussing the health of my first gear in another thread they may have to wait!!!
