Default Two quick questions: protection plate and wheel spacers

Hey guys. I'm picking up a 993tt tomorrow assuming successful ppi.

Should I ask the tech to remove the engine protection plate?

A fellow I know is selling some Champions from a 996 that I am told will require a 30mm spacer in the rear to work. 30mm seems pretty large. Any input? Would I be asking for trouble?

Thank you.

I guess you are talking about the engine under tray... It is removed on my car. Useless and keeping the heat... not good

As for the spacer, I'm no expert but 30 mm seems large to me...
My .02 anyway

Good luck with the PPI!!

Jamie,

If I were you, I'd take the engine tray off in your garage and keep it. Its very simple to do, and who knows... perhaps some freezing cold future, you'd like to put it back on.

The thick spacers that you are describing are not uncommon... required to mount narrow-body wheels on a wide-body car. My Ruf comes standard with similar spacers. They are bolted on, and have their own studs for mounting the wheels. Use a very high quality spacer, and you should be fine.
