Default Third brake light repair

I have a 1996 993TT with a third brake light that does not illuminate (none of the bulbs light). Any one have any suggestions as to where to start to trouble shoot? I did a search of the forums but all I could find was references to the 1995 993 third brake light which is different from the 1996-1998 993.

Thanks in advance for any guidance- Matt

There is a defect in the wiring harness. I think the rear window must be removed and perhaps replaced.

911/Q45- Thanks for the input. I cross-posted this to the 993 forum and got some additional ideas. In part i was directed to the third brake light repair DIY for the '96-'98 911 on p-cars.com

That will be a slick trick if you can repair the wiring without removing the rear window! Since all the bulbs are out, it's pretty much a lock that the wiring is the problem.
