Default Suspension related question

Hi folks,

After 3 weeks of ownership, I'm becoming more and more in love with my new car. I have a question tough. Roads are bad up here (like driving in New York City...) and I hear that CLUNK! all the time when I hit some cracks on the road (or expansion joint on a bridge for example).

It feels like there is a little gap between the top of the spring and the cup over the spring. Normal driving condition, nothing. Big bumps, nothing. Only on expansion joint or cracks that are hit fast

Very annoying considering I'm driving a 27K miles car with new Springs and shocks... I have H&R springs with Bilstein HD on the car.

Any thoughts before I bring it to the shop? Is there any way to fix this by adjusting the Bilstein?

Thanks in advance
Pierre

My mistake, sorry!

Default Suspension noise

Pierre:

When I installed a brand new set of OEM shocks on my P93T (replacing a non stock set of shocks) I also got this clunk (from the front) when hitting bump or road imperfections.

Gert (Carnewal) pointed out to me that it is usually caused by either the top nut of the shocks is loose or that somebody forgot to install the washer that is supposed to be between the upper strut mount and the top of the upper spring perch.

Apparently the installer forgot to put the washer. After this washer is in, noise is gone.

It is item #3 on the PET pict.

You have to take the suspension apart to put in that washer, so technically yes you need another alignment.

The pict I got from Gert (Carnewal) when he helped me with my problem. I am simply posting his pict.

Hi I had a clunk from the rear that ended up being sl missaligned aftermarket sway bars that would shift from one side to other over some bumps and cause a clunk. Is it from the front or back? Common things people talk about are loose/not fully torqued sway bars and droplinks, some I've read went away when the front strut brace was removed...
There are a number of threads if you search for suspension clunk on the 993 and 993tt forums.
good luck

Its coming form the front
Thank you guys. I will have the car checked next Wednesady. At least, I have some good ideas of where it may come from.
Cheers

Fixed. PramTT was right, the top nut of the 2 front shocks were both loose... That is fun to go at the shop for a repair and get out of there with the equivalent of a lunch bill...
Thanks for your help!!
