Anyone have any advice I may benefit from?
I'm thinking black/black, IRC, 650 engine, 2WD
Can't think about selling my tt, but maybe I should.........

My advice would be to take the taller 6th gear. It should be worth it even if you only drive the autobahn when taking delivery.
Pls. pm me the asking price of your Turbo R if it is LHD. I still have not found the right 996GT2.

The RT12 will be a lot more refined and smooth but isn't that what your 'GT is for ?
From a technical standpoiint the RT12 engine is based on old technology, if you want to shell out for the latest I would wait until they slot the new 997tt motor (appropriately tuned

Toby, I disagree, it'll be much faster (0-62 3.15 secs / 0-100mph 6.6 secs / 0-124mph 9.7 secs / standing q/m 11.0 at 134 mph / 0-145mph 13.6 secs) all on street tyres measured by gps, now tell me how an enzo beater can compare with the turbo r. also ruf vin = high residuals + bulletproof understated class
p.s 997 turbo and gt3 engines are based on the classic 964 engine block so wrong again when u say 'old technology'. same block as gt1 and gt3's
I have an R50 on order but can't wait 2 more yrs, this will help kill the time....but I think i'll keep both

Toby BTW times based on 2WD RT twizzle with IRC
Only useful new tech on a 997tt is the 4wd(which i dont need) and borg warner turbos with both small and large impellers to facilitate a broader torque band. (RT12's 641lb/ft @ 3500rpm)
Ruf (aka turbo technology guru) has been using a similar setup for years, lets not forget the mighty CTR1 which used twin turbo setup for the first time when factory turbos were blowing thru one...
stummel, Ruf R50 is the next ruf vin project which will no doubt outperform a veyron.....

Your best bet is to visit Alois Ruf and have him arrange for a test drive of the RT12. It should help you make up your mind. Your present car sounds beautiful and very well setup. I would have a problem giving it up for anything.

khalid,
it was the test drive with HP Lieb (chief test driver) around narrow country lanes near pfaffenhausen in december last year which sold it to me in the first place...awesome, the thing achieves impossible velocity with utter control and composure, I couldn't shake the adrenelin effects until the next morning and I'm no adrenelin amateur, it was simply monsterous in every way imaginable.

Since Rheinhold left Ruf IMHO have always been slightly behind in the engine departments in comparison (ask Herr Lieb why they didn't do twin plug on your engine ? )

Hi Leon, the RT12 is certainly an amazing car, check out the pictures on the Speed Trip thread. The fat 355s in the rear on the 2WD version make it look unreal.
I truly believe though, that if performance is what you are after, you can achieve similar performance with much much less money. Probably not the finish, looks, resale value etc.. but certainly the performance yes, including handling.
In fact, I think that your own wonderful 993TT can get there not so difficult.
The exclusivity of the car is a different story of course.
Did you get a chance to time your beast with the AX22 during the recent VMAX? Do you have any performance numbers you could share? You should certainly not be too far off the 9.7 sec. from 0-200KPH. In fact my car and TB's (or was yours less TB?) both did a 100-200KPH in 7 sec.(AX22) which is about what the RT12 does based on the accelration numbers you posted. I was running less than 1 Bar.
Get an RT12 but keep your car!
Marty, Ziad, thanks.
