Default ZO6 and M3 tested the Buttonwillow Wall Yesterday....The Wall Won

The fastest car in the SpeedVentures Blue run group yesterday was a beautiful red Z06 (2:09 on CW#25). That is until it hit the wall coming out of the Star Mazda Turn into the esses. There was red fiberglass composite everywhere! If that wasn't enough, an M3 hit the same wall on three sides. I assume both where a total loss. Every once in a while you get a little DE reality check!

Hmmmm...Maybe putting the Turbo under glass and getting a C production race car isn't such a bad idea.

That takes some real trying as the wall is not that close to the Star Mazda turn and then coming out there is not much of a turn to center yourself for the esses. I have seen a few cars loose it coming out of the esses and hit the wall (that is even further but tha cars are carrying more speed.)

So here are the tracks of one of the cars that hit the wall. You can see a car way down to the right which is where the Star Mazda turn is. You can also see a nice straight here. Do you have any idea what may have happened? Spinning there is just odd. Don't think I have ever seen it done at that point. And for two people to do it at the same event.... Weird.

The Z06 left the track just into the first "S". The M3 did hit the was coming out of the Esses, but I agree completely with you ViperBob on the Z06. It would required a lot of speed and a fairly significant mistake to leave the track and hit the wall from early in the Esses. I wouldn't have believed it had I not driven through the cloud of dust and heard the THUD.

Where did you get the picture? I didn't bring a camera. Are there more some place on the net?

Sorry to hear about crashes, most of us have witnessed a couple.
Not that it matters, but was the Z06 a brand new 505 HP model (C6 Z06)??

thanks,
MK

That is a good thing, they are easy to come by and "cheap"...

Glad no one was hurt!
