Word of warning regarding old tires
Last night I had a blow out on the Garden State Parkway. The blow out was caused by dry rot....no visual signs of but the inner wall just let go. If your tires are 6 years old CHANGE THEM!. Mine had plenty of tread and looked visually like new.
I was doing 80mph and the car handeled like a charm....if it were a front it could have been different.

I was terrified one time after inspecting my tires and all the dry rot/ "weather checking"
that I could see between the deep treads at near full depth on a car I purchased.
My tires never last long enough to worry about this!

Six years old? When we bring the drive instructor from factory he didn't accept any tire with more than two years old for the driving lesson. He said the tires with more than two years of use or not use must be change to prevent blows.

I purchased the car May of 05 and put about 5K miles on it with these tires....Untill yesterday at about 80 MPH on the parkway....What a nightmare. Everyone with older tires should keep this in mind....

[QUOTE=Rassel]I hope this is a valuable lesson to all of you! If you drive enough, you will wear the tires enough to change them in time. So drop the polishing rag and get out there!
EXACTLY! .....well said Sir. My thoughts precisely. I couldn't agree more. If your tires are rotting you're not driving your car enough.
