Default 996TT shift ****

I was thinking of updating to the 996TT shift ****. I have seen some of these installed on the 993 but I'm not sure if it is just the **** or the whole assembly. What is the apporximate cost and best place to buy one? Is this an easy swap? Thanks.

I just swapped a 996 Ruf shift **** into my 993. Its very easy... even a doofus (me) can do it. You snap the shift boot out and pull it upside down over the ****. Remove the set screw, and the ****/boot are free of the lever. My boot was tie-wrapped to the ****... I don't know how the factory does it. Whatever... just free the **** from the boot, and then reverse the process.

I have no idea on cost or sources... the Ruf **** (complete with boot) is $399 (but I bought mine on eBay). Sometimes the ***** will show up there.

Gert has nice sets in either aluminum or carbon fiber. This is both the shifter and the e-brake handle.
The aluminum is around $700, the CF is probably around $900.

I bought my 996 shift **** off Ebay. The stock boot has to be cut and zip tied around the **** unfortunately, as the 996 boot does not fit. I think it looks very good though.

Here is a 996 shift **** converted by Carnewal to fit a 993tt (I installed this in my car) and with a handbrake.

You can a 993 Leather boot in the matching Porsche Leather color from Alan Gunn. It comes with the "ring" install and you do is install the leather per the instruction I have post a while back.. sourced from GERT.. The cost of the replace boot was ~$65

This allows you to save your current 993 **** abd boot for reinstall later.

Buy a 996TT with the "turbo" script on the shift ****.. as I have done.

Let me know if you need the boot "switch" instructions

Felker, so if I read your message correctly, the boot can be purchased from Alan Gunn (sourced from GERT) I am not familiar with either of those two. I have seen the Carnewal site that I believe offers the **** and boot, but it is $388. How much does the 996TT **** cost (is this bought from any dealer?) I would definately like a copy of the instructions for swithing the parts out. Thanks for the reply and sorry for all of the questions.
