Thank's Bob. Yea, I'm going to built a crazy one and keep my tt intact, in that way I can put the modified into a track and the tt for party weekends. As I read on all the answers, the main problem are the flairs, How about the factory ones? Are very expensive? Fitment? Instructions??? Jim, please chare your experience.

Corte- you should call FVD as i understand that their 'bolt-on flare kit' is the same one that porsche used. Plus, Im told it fits better on a narrow body car than it does on a wide body. So, it might be better for you.

Factory Porsche 993GT2 based on narrowbody?
I used to race two factory 993GT2's in the mid 90's and have lots of parts left over. I am planning on building a street GT2 with all the factory parts I have left (doors, flares, bumpers, hood, thin glass, suspension etc. maybe even the 120 l fuel cell).
I have been looking for a white or yellow 993TT as a donor car, but now I am wondering which base car to get. Did the factory cars start out as narrow bodies with the flares bolted on? To me it looked like it had the wider bodywork to begin with. After reading this thread I am not sure anymore..
Any help is appreciated.

im almost certain the gt2 is made on a wide body car b/c they use lots of turbo parts.
Oddly enough, the gt2 body kit seems to fit easier on a narrow body car - but maybe there are many different suppliers of the kit.

Corte, there are a couple of points that might help you. The original 993 GT2 was based on wide(turbo) body . There was several different width and height flares used. The road bases GT2 rear flare finishes high on the car. Another option you should consider that is actualy designed for the narrow body is the 993 Cup look produced as race cars up untill 1997. The main difference is the tail which was ( on the RSR) a high RS CS bi- plane. This can easily be substituted with GT2 tail. The front bar of the road based GT2 is the same as RS CS , Cup & RSR ( as original from factory) .The RS type flares are narrower than GT2 and the panel(rocker?) then fits along the sill very neatly to connect with both front and rear flares. It is a much neater look and more than wide enough for road car. It is also commonly called a GT2 kit as well and leads to much of the confusion.

Im 99% certain the real GT2 is based on a widebody car. Im told be reliable sources that this was done to fit all the turbo plumming into the rear bumper and fenders. It would be more work to fit a turbo engine in a NB car as its a tight fit.

I guess I am the only one who thinks the bolt on flairs look unfinished. I would rather see someone make a extra wide body with metal blended into the factory panels.

Atgani, photo of yellow car looks like the fit of front flare and sill matches up - so yes that does look like narrow body with sill addition. Front GT2 flare finishes in mid air and has never looked finished. I have both types of flares and the alternative sill panels in my garage and will try and photograph asap so the difference can be seen. I either still own or have owned virtually all the body variations of 993 including normal narrow body, T/T, RS and RS CS and factory RSR as well as GT2 . A friend has road 993 GT2 also. I have also updated early car to 993 GT2 look so will try and get photos for comparison.
