Default 993 TT/TT S values

Guys, thinking about getting out of my 2004 GT3. Thought I would go to the track and really enjoy this car but I just have not found the time sooooo I'm thinking of trading it in on a 993 TT. Still want some of the rawness but with the back seats(have two small kids) and more usability for the street. Seems like most brokers are in the mid to high eighties for anything with around 20K miles or less...is this realistic? I know a private party deal would be more competitive but with the trade on the lease it just really is not an option. Guys, would like to hear your thoughts on where you feel the 993 TT market is at right now? Anyone out there with a mint car interested in a mint 04 GT3 with 3500 miles on it..? Thanks Jeff

Campy,

We've had a couple of 993TT owners desert the ranks and buy GT3s. But they had the same thoughts as you that the GT3 is a better track toy (easier to drive at 10/10 than the 993TT). You may very well find someone willing to trade or buy your GT3, as well as someone willing to sell. I would suggest you post some nice pictures (inside & out) of the 3, and specify the color(s) of 993TT you'd be willing to cosider ot not consider.

BTW, bith are fabulous cars... just for different purposes... and I agree, the 993TT is absolutely awesome for street use (and some track).

There are a few very nice 993tt's in the classifieds. Premier has a sunroof delete coupe in black that is immaculate.

Yes, lets see some pictures or tell us what options you have Campy.

A GT3 is the only other Porsche I would consider buying. As far as the market, me being in real estate as a profession I feel alot more in tune w/current markets with the twins. The values appear stable for lower mileage cars up to about 30k in miles it appears. Retail, a select group of dealers seem to be setting the tone between the low 70's and mid 80's for good colors and the right miles. They do seem to sell b/c I don't see them advertised much past 60-180 days, although RPM has a couple with less than 10K miles, but those are the exception. Look at where the market is in the Spring of 06, I woudln't want to go out on a limb until then as far as future trends.

Person to person if you look hard and diligently you can find one for less than $70k IMO, however they are at close to 10 years of age and the maint. issues needing to be considered. Mine is a 96 blk/blk with 25k miles, all records, w/MO30 ROW suspension, new HD's, diverter valves, MAF, RS shifter, pads, Pirelli Corsa's, Evo seats and harness. In addition, I have 36k miles or 3 years remaining on a full warranty. Personally, I wouldn't take less than $75,000 and there lies the delema we twin owners face if you want a GT3.

I love them and I think alot of 993tt owner see that car as a transition if you want to track, but where will the values be on the GT3.

On a side note: look at the rear seats in a 993tt before you think about the kiddies. Mine are 8 & 11 and the 11 year old can barely fit.....so choose wisely !!!

Indeed, I wouldn't be buying a 993 for the rear seats. 996 has more usable seats.

That is one maxed out on options GT3!

BTW - There is a gorgeous red Turbo S at Park Place in Bellevue: http://www.parkplaceltd.com/pages/fi...e.aspx?id=4894

A rebuilt (by RUF, w/warranty) 96tt silver with 66k miles (0 on rebuild) just sold for $57k. Basically a new engine in a silver car with sport seats, carbon fiber, and JIC adj susp. I was playing the auction to try to get it cheap and turbo R it (as I have suggested in other posts) - it is sitting at RUF Dallas's lot now. Anyway it looked to be in great shape and sold in the 50s.

RPM and Premier prices are stratospheric. Who knows what they really sell for, but if you are patient, you can find a good car for a good price. Unless you want a low miles garage queen... Then you will pay top $$.

You can get a very nice TT in the mid $60's if you look hard enough. I could have bought the black carat Premier that was mentioned in this thread for $67K this summer, but had to pass because I lost my job. In fact, it was advertised on this site. It is very nice, but not "pristine" unless they fixed the scratches on the door and hood and resprayed the bumper cover etc. and fixed a long scatch on the passenger seat. The main problem with the car is that there is little maintenance/ownership history prior to 3 years ago. Look hard and you'll find the right car.

Jeff,
I would keep what you have. You are going to get killed on a trade. You have a beautiful car and it now realistically worth somewhere around the mid $80's. That is a lot of $$ per mile. GT3's just do not seem to be moving well right now.

Ira Porsche will be taking a 1996 993 turbo in trade in the next couple days. The car is Midnight Blue with Midnight Blue leather, self dim mirrors, rear wiper, cd storage, aluminum dials, aluminum shifter/brake handle, Titanium brake calipers, Sport Seats, and AM/FM/CD player. Car has approximately 25k miles on it. I have not seen this car yet, but I will post more info when I do. Please give me a call or email, or PM, if you have any interest in it.

Thanks

If you follow the link and scroll down to the bottom ad, a question has come up with respect to repair and maybe past bodywork. I remember reading about this car somewhere but cannot place it. Its priced correctly for retail given it has no past records and has no sunroof. The sunroof delete is rare, but no one is going to buy this car based on structural integrity being superior for the track. Not at that price anyway. While the car has very low miles the aforementioned items or lack therof are setting the tone on this car. If it had a roof, window sticker/service records you might see this car priced at $75k to $78k IMO. If theses things were available they would have pictured them.... again its priced correctly.

Above is the link to their actual site showing $82k. After posting the above paragraph I realized the ebay ad was the starting bid and not a "buy it now" price. At $82k I personally wouldn't pay that and its way too high.

I have an Arena red/Cashmere 1997 that might be for sale. Matches the "kills bugs fast". 15K miles. Needs nothing. Brand new tires (replaced for age not wear), oil change and brake flush. All stock. I say might be for sale because I might have it traded for an x50. If that deal does not come to pass I'd be interested in talking to you about the GT3 (your build sheet is great) and I'm also going to look at a GT2. I'll be realistic on the price of the turbo.

I have experience with Premier. I bought this car from them about 4 years ago. They are an excellent outfit. I've bought a fair number cars from them sight unseen.
