Jean

Thanks. What do you mean "they are ok for the street except for the camber"? Do you mean I should keep the camber at -1.5 and change the rest as per the alignment settings?

BTW, the BIC have just changed their website - it's soooo much better and they have the list of upcoming events... go to www.bahraingp.com

Best regards,
Ziad

Thanks for the updated website.

I meant that my camber might be a bit too aggressive for your usage. But I maintain that you should have -1.5 front and rear if you want a decent handling car on the track. Toe, caster, etc can be used the same.

Ziad, The Cayman S is Arctic Silver/Cocoa and it's for the wife and it's, hopefully, arriving end of November. Sold her Cayenne S and convinced her that she needs this as the replacment.

The drag race? Not participating but might drop by to see who's in. Hopefully going to the Dec. 8th event though.

Khalid,

Great piece of salesmanship re your wife's Cayman S!

Porsche Club Drag race, didn't you know about it? should be fun, it's in the evening (22 Oct) & I'd be very interested in the timings on your car!!!
8 Dec should be a blast. I'm planning to be there unless I have to travel for work.

Best regards,
Ziad

I believe the stock turbos are the k16s (?) and the power delivery feels very smooth, almost like there's one bump which the RPM builds towards - just came back from a spirited drive

Does that mean you have the 450hp upgrade? Have you posted any pictures of your car?
Ziad,

I've got 450 package from the factory, it's XLC option. I believe the 430 was X50.

I've got muffler bypasses atm, but before that it had twin pipes, otherwise it looks just like yours! Now you just gotta figure out what you should replace your K16's you have with...

*Bump* Rassel is pushing Ziad towards the slippery sloap...

Rassel,

Thanks. The 480hp upgrade I'm hoping to do in Jan uses the stock k16s. I know that there are loads and loads of posts out there on K16, K24, hybrids, etc., but in a nutshell, what are the disavantages of the K16s?

Out of interest, what would you change on your current 450hp power delivery?

Best regards,
Ziad

I don't really feel there is anything wrong with K16 in stock/430 mode. They are doing their job quite well. Pushing the K16 to 480, didn't know they where capable of so much power. But make sure to look at a dyno pic, before getting that setup. I'm afraid that those 480hp will be a peak and not a powerband.

I'd change, without a doubt, to better Turbos with correct ECU. I prefer a powerband to work with instead of a small puff somewhere in the rpm band. If I would have made my choice today, it would neither be K16 or K24 but hybrids. They seem to perform a LOT better than the standard Porsche options and this is what it seems that most people also report.

Default JEAN, please bring your Video!!!

"GT 900", I love it !!!

I have always wanted to see a video of Protomotive 600-700
versus EVOMS 900 H.P., this will be quite interesting indeed...

Ziad,
With stock K16s I doubt you will get 480hp. If you are required to send out your K16s for modifications then it is possible.

From what I heard that EVOMS GT900 belonging to the dealer in Bahrain is a real beast. It will be fun to run against it.

Rassel,
Thanks for that. I'll write to Protomotive to get the dyno pics if possible and see it I can share the info. Ideally, I need to find someone who has had the 480hp upragde to get their feedback - I might just post something
on that particular subject.

Jean,
The upragde entails the following:
- Computer upgrade w/ adjustable fuel pressure regulator
- Electronic Wastegate Controller
That's supposed to give you 480hp @ the flywheel with an approximate increase of 50lb of torque, in my specific case.

There's no mention of Turbo mods, see http://www.geocities.com/protomotive..._twinturbo.htm
Eitherway, I'll reconfirm.

Incidentally, and sorry for going off topic, I read in another post that you hardly get an wheel spin with your 315s?

The EVOMS GT900 is a beast, but yours is a monster from hell with an attitude .

All the best,
Ziad

Ziad,
Protomotive or not, you might get a 480hp spike on a dyno chart with race fuel but you will not get it in real life without turbo upgrade unfortunately. We will discuss more in detail comes the time, if you want, and we will have a chat with them.
Regardless though, it will be a fast car with the right programming from Todd and the boost controller that you will have.
Yes I can hardly spin my tires under throttle, it was easier when my suspension was harder and I was running 1.1 Bar, right now I have to really want it (which I don't )
I wish someone could share some numbers from the GT900, a lot of talk and eye witnesses but I haven't seen any drag strip numbers yet, despite the several runs he has made apparently.
I know only last week end, the stage 996TT 5 GIAC could not keep up with me at stock boost pressure, maybe it was not in its best shape. A 996TT stage 2 GIAC was smoked at 0.7 Bar from a rolling start. (vid available)

Jean,
Have you made "kill" marks in the for each tuned car you smoke?
