Replace Instrument Bulb?
#2
Don,
I watched this fix about 2 years ago. The mechanic had to remove the steering wheel to get the tach to pull out of the dash. Be sure you have the wheel straight when you take it off, so you can get it back in the same position. The tach is pulled out with your fingernails. I forgot how he actually changed the bulb, but it wasn't difficult. Can you test BEFORE you put the wheel back on? (I'm worried about the airbag light).

The instrument cluster/guages just pop out with some "gentle" persuasion using a screw driver covered in a rag. There is a write up and pictures in the DIY section of p-car.com. I recently removed a blinking immobilizer/remote light in the clock that I got constantly after switching to a FVD ecu.

You can easily remove the clock for sure without removing the steering wheel. There are two write ups (one for installing a V1 in the tack and other for aluminum gauge faces) on www.p-car.com where the tach is removed and according to the authors it's possible to remove the tach without the steering wheel. Haven't done it myself though....

If you try to remove the tach without removing the steering wheel you will bend the tach bezel. The wheel isn't that tough to remove, just get a #30 Torqx screwdriver and be careful with the airbag.
