Default Removing Steering Rack

I am getting ready to change my leaky steering rack. Is it really necessary to remove the outer tie rod ends off of the steering arms? It seems that they could be threaded off at the adjustment point and just pushed out of the way.

The reason I ask is that I don’t have the right tool to remove the tie rod ends without damaging the rubber grease cup.

Any comments? TIA

They can be threaded off, no need to remove.

Thanks for the feedback. It should make the job a little easier.
