I find it hard to pay top $$ for old technology (the price of upgrade packages has not come down over the past 7 yrs). Yet, at the same time, i understand that our cars are 9 yrs old and new research is focused on the newer cars, but i was hoping there is some way to benefit from the last 9 yrs of technology.
thoughts?
This is a moot point for me and one reason which persuaded me to part with substantial $$ to get the very latest 996tt race Alzen RS Tuning K24/26 turbos adapted to fit the 993tt and optimised on the dyno. These units (importantly together with many other mods AND proper mapping) give the sort of low end response which was only available with K16 size back in '95 - oh and did I mention they have a bit of a top end as well

Not to be a snot or anything, but doesn't the fact that our cars are soooooooooooooooooo neat make up for the 10 year factor?

Tour - you are correct. Only b/c our cars are sooooo neat is the reason we are still spending lots of time/$$/effort to make them better and more fun.

Clearly, it would be easier to take Gordon's suggestion and get the latest out-of-the-box monster from porsche motorsports.

My only point was that i dont like to be paying the premium price for upgrades (same price as current technology for current models) as almost all the upgrades have not evolved in the past 8 yrs. Furthermore, when u consider depreciation of the 993tt, the cost of upgrades becomes even greater as a % of the car. That said, im sure at some point ill be smiling after i give $25k to Ruf

holy post resurrection batman. LOL so I am new to R-list. Just wanted to see how these cars are doing today. Im having a full protomotive engine build in my car now. Went with the Billets for spool. Twin plug heads, pauter rods etc. So guys... since 05, How are your cars. Yes they are sooooooo neat. Thats why I chose the 993 turbo. Over every 996 or 997 i looked at I always came back to the 96-97 golden age when the check was to be written.

Default Copy of my post to Overdraft on 6speed

I've had many 993tt's & have 2 currently, use to have to buy a 97 ECU & program, but Protomotive & UMW can do the 96's ( a few $$ more), Protomotive just did my street 96 with 16/16g's & I'm getting 400 awhp & 420 trque on 91 oct, fairly inexpensive & GREAT drive ability.

1st dyno: giac tune w/ stock 16's on 97 ECU
2nd: new 16/16's & new tune 17.5 psi 96 ECU
3rd: new 16/16's & new tune 17.5 psi w/AFR 96 ECU
4TH: new 16/16's & new tune 100 oct 96 ECU

Notice the 91 tune more linear than 100 oct, I had Todd specifically tune for 91 as I never plan to put race gas in this car. Car also has & recommended: Audi 710 blow off valves, 5 bar FR, Bmc filter, new stock plugs,& high flow exhaust, stock clutch feels fine for now(35k) might need to upgrade to gt2 clutch when ready

Default nice. Yes Protomotive is doing my ECU

nice! I am hoping to see a little more but they are using the same turbos on my car. I assume these are the billet 16 g's? We went all the way with pistons, GT2 EVO cams, Twin plug heads. Dual MSD ignitions, Plus all the accompanying fuel system mods. I think they are using two pumps or something like that with 80# or larger injectors. Any idea what this type of setup is worth?
