Default DIY Stuff

Just thought I'd share that I completed my first oil / filter change and bled the brakes.
The oil change took about 4 hours - should be much quicker next time. I'm amazed (but not surprised) at how well put together our machines are. I did not have to disconnect the oil return tube, and my oil filter wrench for my VW golf fit perfectly to remove the filters.
I used my old Mity Vac to bleed the brakes - pretty straight forward.
Quite a bit more work than my old '85 Targa but quite satisfying when all done.

Car seems happier to me somehow too!

Basal Skull

Congratulations. It's great to get to know your car with hands on experience. I'm biased, but your Arena TT looks great in your avatar. Any other photos to share, and what are those wheels you have?

Spent a week in Vancouver last year and it was just beautiful.

Thanks,

Boostid

Your avatar looks great as well!
I always have pics I share.
These were all taken in the last couple of weeks - got the car about a month ago.
My wheels are BBSLM 18s

Only problem with spending so much time with the car is my wife is starting to complain that I go missing for hours and has started to claim that I'm cheating on her.

Tony;

Hopefully, car will be in my hands in another week. It's been a long wait, so I'm getting pretty impatient. I'm having the following done:

Kevins Stage 1 (GT1) turbos with wastegate mods
996TT check valves and new oil feed lines
Andial turbo oil return lines
5 bar FPR
Billet diverter valves
2nd oil cooler and manual oil cooler fan switch
Repainted front bumper cover with new rubber trim
Oil temp and boost gauges in phone console
Other odds and ends (plugs, etc.)

Will post results soon. It's gonna be hard to drive 1st 50 miles with no boost.

Ryojo;

Your car looks great with the BBS LMs. I'm actually considering those as replacements for the RUFs if I have any $$ left after doing the above. Thanks for the pics.

boostid - what programming/chip are you using with Kevin's hybrid gt1 turbos?

Rob;

For now, I'll be using the stock chip. I'll probably go with Steve Weiner at Rennsport Systems and install whatever he suggests for 91 octane in Cali. Car will be 100% street driven, no more track time for this baby.

Is it ok to use the stock chip after you have modified the turbos?
I always thought the chip programming and turbos need to be matched and working together.

Rob;

According to Kevin, with the Stage 1(GT1) turbos, you can use the stock chip as long as you install a 5 bar fuel pressure regulator and don't track the car. If you want to track the car, you need the upgraded ECU (I don't know why, maybe Kevin can fill us in). I'll be looking at new chip later this year to take advantage of the turbos, but won't be tracking the car.

Regards,
