Default Coming to America

Hello All

Am coming the States soon; am coming to DC to see a good friend from my University days. Will be in town from Friday 11th March, and leaving on Tuesday 15th March. Am staying in the Holiday Inn on 1155 14th St, NW. We are then flying to Savannah, Georgia for St. Patrick's Day....am flying home to Blighty on Friday 18th March

It would be great to meet up with any Rennlist members who live in DC or Savannah

Thanks

Martyn.

I've got a lot going on during that time, but would be delighted to see you Martyn. My work schedule is crazy on the 14th, then I'm leaving for Vermont on the 15th, so let's shoot for Fri., Saturday or Sunday. If the weather's fine, perhaps I'll drive the TT.

Excellent, will mail you.

I shall be easy to spot...typical tourist, looking the wrong way when crossing the road, wearing Union Jack t-shirt, plus shorts, white socks and sandels

Bit of history...this will be my 2nd time in the States, I came over last year to DC for a bit, and then me and my mates went to NYC for St. Patrick's day. I only spent 3 days in New York, and was a physical and mental wreck by the end after fervent drinking and partying.

Hmmm, I've got an image to uphold in my home town, I may have to send a spy ahead to see how bad it actually looks. I may have a migraine that day.

Ha! He obviously didn't see todays weather in DC. White flakes all over, little cool for t-shirts & shorts. LOL.

Martyn if you are up for an adventure a bunch of P-cars will be at Summit Point Raceway that weekend for a DE event. I think it is roughly an hour and a half west of DC.

Have mailed you John.

I was only jesting about the tourist garb, I promise to dress sensibly so to not impinge on your street cred.

Keith, thanks for the offer, though I don't think I will have opportunity to get to the raceway.

Martyn, you'd better dress up. I spent 3 days there and been sick for the last 2 weeks since I came back. Actually coming from the UK it should not be a big deal for you.

I shall wrap up warm, though its pretty cold here in Yorkshire at the moment.

My main concern is if John will be able to understand my accent, which is 'interesting' to say the least!!

Martyn, my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our lunch with you and Michael today. While it wasn't too hard to keep up with your accent, I confess I had a hard time keeping up with your wealth of sports car knowledge, and I read just as many car rags as the next chap. TVRs, Lambos, F-cars, engine displacement, etc., on and on, quite impressive. I can't wait to hear stories from the upcoming Bruntingthorpe day. Also, my sincere thanks for the Ruf memorabilia.

I'll be in the UK in May and look forward to getting together then and seeing your P-car beast.

Enjoy your holiday to the fullest

Got home Saturday, what a trip.

DC was great.

Savannah was very enjoyable also, though cold; the weather forecast predicted a temp of 65-70 so me and my mate took shorts, etc. It turned out to be VERY cold, meaning coats, hats, and scarves were in order! The St. Patrick's Day parade was excellent, and the festivities down on River Street quite hedonistic in the afternoon and evening.

Hope the day at Summit Point went well.

The Bruntingthorpe speed day on sunday went well. I got a max speed of 173 through the laser. The best of the day was 196 on the laser by a Nardo engined RUF R GT2, only 1mph slower was an original Yellowbird.

You can see some pics here

Kind regards

Martyn.

Thanks for the link to the pics Martyn. I saw that Tiff Needell was there and the day will be featured on a future episode of his show. Did he drive your car?
