Default gas smell?

My TT sometimes smells a little gassy when left parked overnight and when going down a LONG hill ( a couple miles)... not exhaust, more like raw gas.

I have checked the obvious... loose cap, overt leaks...

Any clues?

sometimes the gasket in the cap can go bad - see if you can borrow a cap to see if that solves the problem

Is there a gas smell in the trunk? A leak, or even a little spillage, can get under the tank in the trunk and smell gassy forever. Only solution is removal of the tank and a thorough cleaning underneath.

I've had the same thing happen to me. I also noticed that a Post-It that was on a clipboard in the trunk had a damp appearance (appox. half of it). What is that?
