paintless ding removal
#2
I had my 02 996 TT delivered sight unseen from a Porsche dealer in Texas. it was perfect except for a smaller than dime sized dent in the rear quarter. I think it happend during shipping. It was in the worst possible spot, right on the top of the fender. There was no paint chip. I called my local Porsche dealer and they recommended a local guy. He came to my house and spent about 30 min. After you could not tell, even the Porsche dealer could not tell where it was. $50 later it was the best money I ever spent. I was so happy I gave the guy a $50 tip. Best money I ever spent.
It worked for me but I think a lot has to do with the skill level of the person taking out the dent. He was suppose to be the best and it looked that way to me. He was not some young kid. He was a professional.

I am in the paintless dent removal business, and yes it does work. However, we cannot remove all dents. Location and size are a big factor, as well as paint quality and age, and metal quality and thickness. Find a well recommended dent tech by someone who knows....like your dealer. Much like any profession, quality levels vary due to ability. Stay away from the big chain dent companies, they pay their techs squat so you know what kind of result to expect. A good dent man will tell you 1) If he can fix it, 2) What level of removal to expect ie. 75%, 85%, 100% etc. Prices will vary. Everything in NY costs twice as much as it does most other places in the country, so people have to make twice as much! I would have probably charged around $50, but I also charge additionally to come to you...time is money. If possible don't go through the dealer because he gets a mark-up. That $120 repair was only $75.00 to the dealer in NY! If you're ever in the Atlanta area I've got you covered!!

re nyc: speaking of which, can Chris or anyone recommend a good dent removal guy in the nyc area?
i have one dent on the roof that can only be suctioned out as it would involve removing the headliner to get-at-it from the inside.

I have used a great guy out here in So. California: AP Dent Repair (805)217-2748. I'll usually line up 3 or 4 cars at work, and he'll do it here in our parking lot. Very reasonable, great work, and what a relief, knowing that a door ding isn't the end of the world.

Call the Dent Wizard and ask for G. Bruno to do your job. He is the best!! Highly recommended. I had him do my '86 targa, my bro's M3 and my chevelle show car. A little more expensive than some but well worth it. I think he's out of Lodi NJ?? Remember--only Mr Bruno
