Default Rear Tires on 993tt

Can a 295/30/18 be mounted safely on the rear 10x18 wheel of a 993tt?

Yes.
(It goes great with a 235/35/18 on the front)

Typically a 295/30/18 tire needs a 10.5" (at minimum) or 11" rim in order to get 100% contact patch.

Using a 295 wide tire on a 10" rim wont get you any extra traction because all you will end up with is more bulging of the sidewall.

In other words, other than for aesthetics, I don't think it is going to buy you anything.

Someone please correct me if I have this wrong...

Vrus, You are absolutely right if we are talking about Pirelli-P Zeros.
Pirelli recommends 10.5-11.5 for a P-Zero Asymetrico
On the other hand Continental recommends 10-11.
And Michelin recommends 10-11.
fianlly Yokohama 10-11.5
(All according to Tireracks website.)

Scott and Vrus you are both correct, but regardless of what the manufacturers are suggesting or recommending, Vrus is 100% right if you use 295 size tire on 10' wheel, regardless what make ( they will fit ) but the bulging of the side walls will be very apparent. I tried this on my 993C4S, and it just did not look right.

Cheers.
