Oil in intercooler!!????
My 993 tt has an oil leak that I think I located to the hose clamp on the passenger side turbo inlet coming from the intercooler. It looks to be not well clamped to the hose. I took off my intercooler to get a look at it from the other side and found oil in the intercooler! Is this normal? Is the turbo "blown"? The car has never smoked when running, which I thought was the first sign of a turbo problem. If it is "blown" would it be a bad idea to do a DE this weekend with the car??
Thanks,
Tim

There is always a little oil blow by from the turbos in the intercooler. Question is how much? If there is a small film, most likely OK. If it is thick or dripping, then it is not a good sign.

could be symptomatic of overfilling your oil as well. Like bob said, depends on how much.

If you have oil in your intercooler, then you probably have some in your intake hoses as well.

When I changed the oil, I know I added too much. Could this cause the same problem? I did empty the oil resevoir on both turbos and the passenger side, the suspect one, had twice as much oil!? Problem???

When did you do your oil change? Did you read the link above?
There are cases where the turbos will be bad in which case you'll see oil in the intercooler. But if your car is low mileage ( ie, less than 60K ) and you've properly cooled down your engine after you drive, and you've recently changed the oil, then it's probably the filter or overfilling issue.
