Default Panel removal

I have noticed in a couple of threads, that some of you have removed the panel from underneath the engine compartment. I am in Houston and temperature is really a problem. It makes a lot sense to remove it. my question is, are there any negative consequences to its removal ? I don't want to create any problems.

I think most people believe that removing it will help extend the life of your valve guides, and shouldn't cause any problems. It is mostly a sound dampening thing?

I am going to remove it on my car the next time I get under it.

In addition, you could know when you have an oil leak when your car stays on a garage for a couple of days

I still have several of my customers trays sitting around the house. Eric.. Yes I still have yours. Maybe you can put it in the trunk of the nice big 750iL when I install the strut arms...
